Btc1 18-40 Strong brown (7.5YR5/8) slightly gravelly clay loam; strong medium
subangular blocky structure; firm moist, hard dry; slightly sticky and

slightly plastic; patchy faint clay coats on ped faces, in pores and
along root channels; common fine and medium pores; few fine roots;

very strongly acid (field pH 5.0); gradual, smooth boundary.

Btc2 40-70 Yellowish red (5YR5/6) very gravelly clay; strong medium subangular
blocky structure; firm moist, hard dry; sticky and plastic; patchy clay

coats on ped faces and in pores; few medium roots; gravels composed
of ironstones about 60% by volume of the soil; very strongly acid

(field pH 5.0); gradual smooth boundary.

Btc3 70-100 Yellowish red (5YR5/8) gravelly clay loam; firm moist, hard dry; sticky
and plastic; no roots; gravels composed of ironstones about 40% by

volume of the soil matrix; very strongly acid (field pH 5.0); clear,

smooth boundary.

Cr 100-150 Yellowish red (5YR5/8) and strong brown (7.5YR5/8) slightly gravelly
sandy clay loam; friable moist, hard dry; sticky and plastic; no roots;

gravels composed of ironstones about 15% by volume of the soil;
very strongly acid (field pH 5.0).
