The representatives of Arenosols in Thailand

            Gleyic Arenosols

                     Gleyic Arenosols have gleyic properties

            dominance, a layer ≥ 25 cm thick and start ≤ 40 cm
from the mineral surface. And have reducing conditions

in some parts of every sublayer.

Ban Buang series (Bbg) is a representative

of Gleyic Arenisols. Ban Buang soils are formed from
alluvium mostly from granite and quartzite and occurred
on the alluvial fan (granitic terrain). Relief is level to

nearly level. Slopes are 2 percent or less. This soil is

typically found in the eastern and southeast coast.
Drainage is moderately well to somewhat poorly drained.
They are very deep soils with sandy texture throughout

the solum (>200 cm thick) and are characterized by

a grayish brown, brown or dark brown loamy sand
of surface or A horizons overlying a pinkish-gray, light
brown, light reddish brown loamy coarse sand or

coarse sand of subsurface of C horizon. Commonly,

mottles occur in the plow pan layer and the deeper
subsoil within 100 cm from the soil surface with strong
            brown, yellowish-brown, and/or dark yellowish-brown

colours. Soil pH is slightly acid to moderately alkaline

(pH 6.5-8.0). Land use limitations are low fertility and
risk for flooding in the rainy season.
