friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; many fine and medium roots;

strongly acid (pH 5.5); clear, smooth boundary.

AB 15-45 Mixed brown (7.5YR 4/4) and dark brown (10YR 3/3) sandy loam;

moderate fine and medium subangular blocky structure; friable,
slightly sticky, slightly plastic; common fine roots; strongly acid

(field pH 5.5); clear, smooth boundary.

Bt1 45-75 Pale brown (10YR 6/3) sandy clay loam; moderate medium and

coarse subangular blocky structure; firm, sticky, slightly plastic;
patchy moderately thick clay coatings on ped faces; few fine

prominent yellowish red mottles (plinthites); strongly acid field
pH 5.5); clear, smooth boundary.

Bt2 75-125 Light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4) sandy clay; many light brownish
gray (10YR 6/2) mixed with red (2.5YR 4/8) mottles (plinthites);

massive breaking to weak medium subangular blocky structure;
compacted; firm, sticky, slightly plastic; patchy thin clay coatings

on ped faces; few fine iron and manganese concretions; very
strongly acid (field pH 4.5) clear, wavy boundary.

2BC 125-170 Mixed brownish gray (10YR 6/2), light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4)
and red (2.5YR 4/8) slightly gravelly sandy clay (plinthites); reddish

mottles becoming more and coarser with greater depth; massive;
very firm, sticky, slightly plastic; common medium ironstones;

strongly acid (field pH 5.5).
