The representatives of Acrisols in Thailand

            Gleyic Acrisols

Gleyic Acrisols have gleyic properties, a layer

of ≥ 25 cm thick and start at the depth of ≤40 cm
from the mineral surface. Besides, these soils have

reducing conditions in some parts of every sublayer.

Buntharik series (Bt) is a representative of

Gleyic Acrisols. Buntharik soils are formed from
a washed deposit of sandstone and occur on
coalescing colluvial and alluvial fans. Relief is

flat to undulating which slopes range from 0-5

percent. Drainage is moderately well in topsoil
and poor in the subsoil. They are deep soils and
are characterized by a very dark grayish brown or

grayish-brown loamy sand or sandy loam A horizon

overlying a light gray or very pale brown loamy sand
or sandy loam, which in turn overlies a light brownish
gray or very pale brown sandy clay loam or sandy

clay with common to many prominent red mottles

in argillic B horizons. Scattered weathering sandstone
fragments occur at some depth below 100 cm from
the surface soil. Soil pH is very strongly acid to

moderately acid (pH 4.5-6.0). These soils have low

fertility that should be improved by applications of
chemical fertilizers, manure, organic fertilizers. Besides,
farm pond is needed for agricultural water supply.
